A LOGITECH G7 LASER CORDLESS MOUSE
Oh the computer mouse, often taken advantage of, never respected and a mandatory requirement for any computer user. Computer mice are much like underwear (bare with me here), as in everyone likes different styles, has different requirements and would like something that will give them years of service in the worst of conditions. *ahem*
Now for the average joe computer user, any $5.99 optical mouse in the bargain bin will do just fine seeing they just aren't too picky. On the other side of the user spectrum you have the elite user (yes, you and me) which needs their mouse to perform flawlessly and accurate while in the Windows/Linux environment, but also do the same thing while gaming. Gamers tend to not like to be tethered to a cord and would like the freedom of a wireless which I understand completely. There is nothing more frustrating than to be lining someone up for a headshot when the cord likes to all of a sudden jam behind something on the desk causing you to lose you aim and your cool.

Sidewinder Mouse Review
The first rule of Sidewinder Mouse? Download software from the Web. With no disc included in the otherwise comprehensive packaging, the bright startup guide is insistent that that's where you start. It's a 14MB download you need, and cleverly it's grouped with standard mice rather than the gaming menu under Microsoft's tree structure. This, then, is Microsoft's long-promised re-entry into the PC gaming hardware sector, to which it made a token gesture with the release of an Xbox 360 gamepad for PC, but otherwise left alone since abandoning the original Sidewinder gaming line many years ago. The new Sidewinder Mouse is promised to be the first in a line-up of accessories aimed very much at the serious gamer. As is clear when you examine this new rodent. It comes, for instance, with a separate box of weights that you can add and remove to customise it to the feel you desire. This box also doubles up as a cable anchor, so you can restrict the length of the USB lead with which the mouse attaches itself (this is a strictly wired rodent, which is just as gamers seem to like it).Likewise, it supports one-click DPI readjustment, so you can easily make the device more or less sensitive using three buttons mounted into the centre of the unit. The default variables are 400, 800 and 2000dpi, although these can be configured using the software. A bonus is a small LED screen built into the mouse that tells you the current DPI setting, although this is more novelty than anything actually vital. The software turns out to be something of a treasure trove. One of the features of the Sidewinder mouse is a 180-degree quick turn, highly useful in first person shooter games. Given that the Sidewinder has a left button, right button, quick launch button (with the Vista-only assignment of opening your games folder), DPI buttons, scroll wheel and two side buttons, you can assign one of these to the quick turn function in the aforementioned software and still have plenty left over. One other fascinating addition is the ability to record a macro. Should you encounter a game where you need to occasionally repeat the same manoeuvre - a run and strafe, for instance, or consistently shooting at the same place to remove an obstacle - you can record a macro to memorise this, and a click of one of the chosen buttons will then perform the function for you. It's a feature we've not found full use of yet - and we tested the mouse across a range of RTS and FPS games, none of which really required such a stringent repetition of an action - but we can still see its value in perhaps an RPG, where repetitive actions can be more prevalent. It's a selection of features that lives up to the gamer-focused approach of the device, and while the majority are very much take-it-or-leave-it, it's hard to find many other devices on the market that demonstrate such depth of thinking. The bonus at the heart of it is that it's a neat mouse to actually use. It's chunky yet ergonomically comfortable, and even in standard day-to-day working operations we've become very accustomed to it. There is, however, a problem. And that's its size. The Sidewinder is quite a beast of a peripheral, and those with small to medium sized hands are recommended to give it a test drive before shelling out for one. This big-handed reviewer was more than pleased with it, but has colleagues who quickly passed it over. There's also an argument that Logitech's latest gaming mice more than give the Sidewinder a run for its money.Yet this is still an intriguing product, and one with real merit to it if you take your games seriously. It's too expensive, really, for a standalone everyday mouse, but is still a promising sign of things to come from Microsoft's rejuvenated Sidewinder line.

Pret-a-Porte Personal Computers Set to Get More Stylish
Personal computers have come a long way from dull grey boxes made by IBM to ultra-trendy systems like Voodoo Envy, Dell XPS One or Sony Vaio. Unfortunately, average mainstream personal computers still cannot boast with extravagant design, but that is going to change next year, we believe.
PCs are now “good enough” for almost any task that a typical end-user might want to run. It will be hard, if possible at all, for computer manufacturers to sell mainstream personal computers by advertising higher-performance microprocessors, larger storage or more capable graphics cards. As a result, many of large PC suppliers as well as significant local computer makers will put a lot of emphasis on making trendy personal computers.
Besides fashionable design, the new PCs are likely to become smaller in 2009 overall as end-users now value desk space more than ever.
Since there are many standard PC form-factors as well as a wide variety of components available on the market, it will not be hard for PC manufacturers to roll-out stylish and small form-factor systems with decent performance, feature-set and at price-points affordable enough for mainstream market. It is noteworthy that all such systems will either feature microATX, ITX or proprietary mainboard form-factors, but not BTX, which appears to be not popular at all.

A Beginner's Guide To Computers: Parts Of A Computer & How Computers Work
A computer is made up of four essential parts: the system unit, monitor, keyboard, and mouse. It would be very hard, if not impossible, to operate the computer if one of these were missing. You could, of course, still use the computer without a mouse if you memorized all the keyboard shortcuts, but the graphical nature of most programs nowadays has made the mouse an indispensable part of the computer.
The system unit is the main part of the computer where all the action takes place. It houses all the components that make your computer run. Many people mistakenly refer to it as the CPU when in reality the CPU is just a small chip inside the system unit

Software to locate stolen laptops launched
Micro Lost Notebook Tracking System (LNTS) is a software product that is embedded on notebook hard drives and is tracked as soon as they are connected to the Internet.
“The software was developed to deter, track and recover stolen laptops, notebooks and personal computers,” said P. Shekar, Micro technologies chairperson.
According to Shekar, 97 percent of expensive laptops that are stolen are never recovered and 57 percent corporate crimes are linked to them.
Allied Computers International (Asia) Ltd chairperson Hirji Patel feels that such software is the need of the hour and “is very important for business travellers”.
“Usually, laptops have secure data in them and for serious laptop users, this becomes a very vital safety tool,” said Patel, who pioneered low-cost notebooks in the country five years ago.
Using the Windows Explorer platform, the LNTS software is available online in “Elite” and “Premium” for individuals, and “Corporate” for corporate use starting from Rs.600 ($15).
When downloaded, the software automatically installs itself and connects to an embedded monitoring system the moment it logs on to the Internet while remaining hidden. The LNTS saves all the Internet data, which can only be accessed by the company’s technician.
“Today’s computer owners are quite concerned and seek information on who uses their computers – children, colleagues or even their spouses. We can provide information on all those,” said Shekar

Computer Entry: How to select a laptop.
Today there are so many features on laptops. For most businesses they simple need a good laptop that works for a long period of time and at a great low price. So when they look at laptops they see units that are almost exactly the same with huge price differences. Many upgrades and things in the laptop world simply are not logical and not needed. I will talk about many of them and tell you the secret to finding the best prices.
For example 250 GB hard drives are fairly new, and 320GB laptop hard drives are still very rare. The standard is a 160GB hard drive. The larger hard drive, can ad 100-200 dollars to the price of the laptop, for just a bit more space. The average business customer uses less than 40GB of space so it is crazy to pay extra for this space.
One thing that you should know about laptops is that all laptops sold are really only made by 7 companies, and all of these companies are Chinese. Every brand you see is really a laptop from one of these companies branded with the company logo. Dell uses 5 of these 7 companies. Because of this you will notice laptops from different brands that look exactly the same, you will also notice laptops from the same brands that look totally different. The only one of these makers that sells laptops direct is Acer, but their laptops are usually very low quality and it is usually better to pay a bit more for better quality.
